On August 19th, 2008, I landed at Narita Airport in Tokyo. To celebrate the two years I've spent living in Japan since then, I used the summer break to put together a whole collection of different goodies for the fans out there. This is for both the followers of my GTX: Great Teacher Xeno blog about teaching in Japan, and fans of my "Living in Japan" serial segment focusing on the interesting aspects of, well, living in Japan.

Otaku Punch Fandom Documentary

A friend of mine has been traveling the globe, attending numerous anime conventions and events, meeting with fans from all over for the last few years. Now he's underway with a big capstone project asking precisely "what IS an otaku?" Friends and fans, even some voice actors and industry reps, from the USA, England, and Japan have been interviewed all in the hopes of clarifying the definition of otakudom.
The project is still in the works, but the trailer has been released on YouTube. Over the next few months, documentarian James Fedora of Otaku Punch will be piecing together the footage he's taken throughout his otaku-life, all in the hopes of defining his fandom in a way we can all relate.

Game Review: Ace Attorney

Order! Order in the court!! The Court of Geekdom is now in session. In the District of Anime-Source.com, the Honorable Judge Zalsburry will preside. The Defendant in the Case of "Nerds v. Ace Attorney" shall now be examined on the witness stand. The counsel may now begin deliberations.
What? You've never heard of this Zalsburry person before here? Oh, well, maybe that's because she our newest staff writer. Though she'll be focusing on anime soon enough, she wanted to begin with a look at one of her favorite game series... the popular Ace Attorney catalogue of games. With court/crime scene-dramas being one of Hollywood's biggest fads right now, it's no surprise that the gaming industry wanted a piece of that pie.
