Back in the late 90's, I really enjoyed watching this show.
Story
Interesting idea of integrating robots into a futuristic martian society. Not just ordinary robots, but ones that resemble humans in almost every way. This idea has been copied since, but at the time, it really was refreshing to see something different. This still holds true even up to now.
Animation
Looks unusual, but manages to pull it off. It could even be argued that it helped make it unique at the time. It definitely made me a fan. Retrospectively it's starting to look dated though.
Music
Nice soundtrack especially around the scenes packed with action. Nothing like a Yoko Kanno score though, but thats being incredibly harsh. Nicely done.
Summary
It's fairly dated by todays standards, but it was still one of my favourite cyberpunk shows back when I was starting to get into it. Still it's pretty decent stuff even by today's standards. You can't go wrong with watching this.

Armitage III shows itself as an average good versuses evil anime that many people are used to. Two cops are investigating the murders of bio-androids known as "thirds." One officer, a human who hates robots but has some of his limbs replaced with cybernetic parts and is slowly becoming what he hates. The other,super-powered, hot bodied, cybernetic vixen living a mysterious past. Like most animes of this type the ending is somewhat predictable.
What makes this stand out the most is its poor sound quality. Some people that watch anime may like to hear the robots getting destroyed or the firing of a high powered weapon. In Armitage III sound is its worst enemy. There is a scene in the movie when armitage dons a pair of mechanical jet wings and Ross if in a big robotinc suit. One would expect the suit that Ross had on to be very powerful and sound powerful, but alas the sound of bullets firing sound like a cheap laser effect.
If you are looking for an anime that puts a little flair into the generic anime them, Armitage III is worth a look. If you are someone who like to analyze anime critically, you'll have a field day. Overall it is a little above average and is enjoyable.
Story=8 Characters=7 Sound= 4

Having watched this dubbed 7-8 years ago, I decided to rewatch it to see what I thought of it compared to what I remember of it. Armitage III is just as good as I remember it to be. Armitage III begins with Armitage, a female who''s also a Third (robots that are practically identical to humans and can even reproduce), and Ross, a human cop transferring from Earth, chasing down a serial killer targetting Thirds. The series touches on questions about existence and the dangers of future technology.
Highlights:
- Armitage herself is a higlight. Her complex character is definitely something that is a plus. Armitage displays a rebellious and "I won''t take crap from anybody" (and she doesn''t) attitude, but in her moments of weakness, she lets slip her insecurities about her existence. Armitage is definitely one of the most memorable characters ever.
- The battle scenes contained a realism that many other battle scenes lack. Armitage would take damage in her fights despite her physical superiority, unlike many other series where the main character would take immeasurable amounts of damage and still have a few trump cards to win the fight.
Lows:
-The music wasn''t very good. The background music for the final battle and the ending were decent, but everything else was an eclectic bunch of songs that didn''t really connect with me. Some of the songs did provide a very futuristic feel, which matched the theme of the series, but overall very forgettable songs.
- The animation did look dated. I didn''t really mind it, but at times the animation was pretty bad. A few scenes Armitage looked very different. Definitely might deter some from watching this.
Er...:
- The odd design of Ross and Armitage, in terms of their size, was a bit odd. Ross was huge compared to Armitage. He was literally probably twice her size.
Armitage III is definitely still one of my all-time favorites and a definite recommend to anyone. The animation may provide a less enjoyable experience for those who have just recently started watching anime, but Armitage III is nonetheless a great classic. Watch this if you like action and a bit of romance.

An Oldie and Goodie. The atrwork was neat and worked well. The music was very good. I enjoyed the OST for a while until I gave it to a friend. It was interesting how Ross and Naomi's relationship developed. But there weren't too many other real interesting characters otherwise. The story-line was interesting in parts, and also a bit draggy in parts. The action scenes were OK, but nothing real special.
I find myself nowadays when watching Anime trying to get the original Japanese language versions when ever possible. They almost always do the better job of portraying the intensity of emotions meant for the characters involved. It was interesting hearing the English version here though, where I'm a big fan of Mr. Sutherland in the seasonal T.V. series "24". Jack Bauer and Naomi Armitage. Now there's a couple for you.
3 1/2 STARS. 7 out of 10 Rating. Worth a one shot at least.

The story is great, it's straight forward yet it allows you to read in between the lines to draw your own conclusions, all the while anchoring you within the blue print of the main story. For example, when the story begins, you will think that Armitage is a Third and as the anime progress you may question this and at the end of it you will come up with your own conclusion. Whatever your conclusion is, it will fit the main story prefectly. This is story telling at it's best.
The music fits the mood perfectly. Not a note out of place.
The visuals are dated. The fight sequence by today's standards are average at best.
I watched the English dubbed OVA. I found the quality of the voice acting varies, sometimes it's good and at other times it had me wishing for the subbed version.
If you like cyber punk anime with a good story, I would recommend this to you.

Armitage is a great OVA! There may be a little too much going on for a short series and the story is a little rough on the edges... But overall it is great, one of the best Blade Runner influenced works, and the characters are some of the best I've seen.
The animation is dated now, but still looks great. Same goes for the music. It may be old but fits the anime's mood perfectly.

I find these human-droid interaction fantasies interesting. This movie makes some wonderful points on how robots may be accepted in human society. Not to mention awsome action scenes.
Bottom Line: Robots are the infant race of humanity. And, like any child, the actions of the parent will have infinite reprecusions in the life of the child.

As a very classic example of Anime that I show to many of my friends for their first experience, Armitage is one of my favorites.
An exceptionally unique storyline to this story sets it appart from other movies, or series of it's time. It has since been similarized by many newer shows. The animation style, music, and voicing (Dubbed and Subbed - and I prefer Subbed mind you) were fantastic.
I give Armitage a 9.

Well, it was an excellent show and it had some good violence and romance scene.
They sure make all the thirds, women. Except for seeing all those female thirds, except Armitage, getting killed, it is a very good show.
